The Renter Pledge

In many countries, renting the home you live in is as dignified and enjoyable as owning it.

Renters can stay in their homes as long as they want. They can make changes to their homes to suit the way they live. Rental homes are affordable and of good quality.

But not in Australia. Here, our politicians are making renting worse. They have allowed unlimited rent increases, unfair evictions, and the proliferation of properties that are basically glorified tents.

This is because politicians have decided that appealing to landlords is more important than doing right by renters.

It's time for us to change that.

Your voice as a renter is critical in this election.

By organising and committing to vote for strong action to fix renting, we’re building power to hold politicians to account. This will put pressure on politicians who would otherwise be happy to keep people renting trapped in insecure, expensive, and low-quality housing.

That's why we have the Renter Pledge. By publicly committing to support candidates that support renters, you  can create change at this federal election and make renting better for hundreds of thousands of people across the country.

After you've signed the pledge, we'll let you know where the parties stand on rental issues and ways you can take action to help fix renting.
